you can solo the PH's and they drop meat/hides/KS/BS. that alone is ok gilz. Then the NM drops cure clogs not sure how much they go for. Its good practice.

gear not making little difference? gear makes bad placers decent and good players godly. I don't care how skilled you are if your gears bad you will resist all the same, whether the mob is weak to your spell or not. I don't know about you black mages, but if I tried to tank naked it would be a very short fight indeed.

Yes Sorcerer's Tonbon for the win (Blm relic hat) But nuking with relic body is a no no.

Try Irrquia body for nuking, there are like 10k, there are other options, such as morrigains body, and I think one other piece that I cannot recall for the life of me at the moment. Relic body is just a standing piece.

Edit: Here is a linky to a blm equipment guide, its out of date, but at least gives you an idea of what you should be using depending upon what you are doing at the moment.

Hmm. The Gear SEEMS adequate (but you said it was a little outdated so it's ok) but I have my doubts.

First, a lot of those gears I've rarely seen or heard. I think that funky Green coat thingy (can't remember the name, not the Dalmatica) for BLM is probably not wise. Elemental Resistance is a Double-Edge Sword. Cuts down on US getting stat debuffs, but WEAKENS our Nuking potential. At this stage, we need all the firepower we can muster!

Second, The Convert Gear (Zenith) seems decent but REALLY benefits Galkas. Yes any race can wear it but do Tarus REALLY need to sac HP for MP when they have more than enough? Galks have the lowest INT and thus need the Boost in M.A.B. to get the stopping power needed.

Third, the Cloaks force me to be headgearless. Good for those levels but at 75, unless it gives me INT+15 and M.A.B.+10, it's probably best to go with a Coat and Hat combo.

I DO APPRECIATE these alternatives though. At least I have a better grasp of my options and can work some magic (pun intended) on them. Now to gil......

Nuking Gear:

Head : Wizards Tonbon (Demons Helm nq/hq would be best, nq is like 6k on AH, but damn its ugly)

Neck : Elemental Torque / Ugly Pendant (Had pendent till a couple of weeks ago cause Im a brokeass)

Body: NQ Weskit (Someone could argue, and they would be right that for Tier III and lower errant would be better, If you are curious there is already a ton of info about the magic damage formula, just look it up in your free time)

Hands : Yigit Gloves / AF Hands (Non relic)

Earrings : Moldy / Abysall (Swicthing to a suppa for my bst in a few levels so will likely go with Phantom earring)

Rings: Tamas / Diamond (Should be using snow but I'm cheap, Toau Mage ring works fine as well, have the melee one myself)

Waist: Ocean Rope (Honestly a blm should be using a P rope or relic, whatever is the highest Int piece availible)

Back: NQ Prism (HQ Prism(or whatever its called) would be best assuming no sea capes)

Legs : Errant (Can use Jet serawheels, best (AH) choice would be mahatma)

Feet : Yigit (I belive Yigit are the highest damaging leg piece avalible, though ultima Feet would work great here as well)


Enfeebling Is important! This is not an area where it is "ok" to slack.

Enfeebling Set:

Apporiate HQ stave ( Even NQ wind staff works wonders in landing gravity)

Head: irriqa Lappa : +10

Neck: Spider Torque +5 (Enfeebling Torque would be best)

Legs: Irriqa +10(?)

Body : AF1 Blm body (Blm AF+1 Would be best I belive)

(Ninja Edit: With above gear and capped enfeeb merits I have 281 enfeeb, not the highest, but when I sleep, sh*t stays zZz.)

I could go into detail about having a HMP set and a Stoneskin set, (Hell some blms advise having a -dmg set) But that is not the purpose of this post. All gear listed is from AH or your quested AF, Is it the best you could do? No far from it, but at the very least it is considred decent, non gimp gear.

Or so I tell myself every night /wrist.

If ya disagree or have any thoughts please feel free to list your gear and we can make suggestions from that point.

i'm no blm and I can tell you too much mp is never a bad thing, even if just for an extra mp set for initial casting of buffs. FYI elvaan have lowest int, not galka, galka have lowest mp. And think of it as being as effective as possiple, saying taru don't need more mp for any situation is kinda like saying hmmm I have enough MAB, its pointless to have anymore. Also isnt hp/mp conversion gear usefull in activating latent on sorc ring? Very handy when some jack-ass pld(me more than likely) heals you for hate.

First, I need to apologize with the lateness of my response. I have no disagreement with your gear; But for a 'walmart' mage, you gots LOTS of dough! If I had that kinda cash, I'd probably have half of your gear too, if I had the space. But I digress: Here's my Gear.

Head: Wizard's Petasos
Body: Sorcerer's Coat
Hands: Sorcerer's Gloves
Legs: Wizard's Tonbans
Feet: Yigit Crackows
Accesories: Two INT+3 rings (can't remember names), Moldavite Earring, Abyssal Earring (prefer Sorc. Earring, but will take this for now)
Back: Rainbow Cape (can't afford Prism yet, too expensive)
Ammo: Fortune Egg (MP+1%)
Secondary Weapon: Spear Strap (Can't afford the Staff strap, too expensive)
Main Weapon: NQ Elemental Staves (Pick a color, ANY color; can't afford the HQ, too expensive)

I offset these with food items (Rolanberry Pies) and INT potions for the addition boost. I also try not to shift too much gear, except for staves to add the needed boost spells, but it makes little difference.

Staff strap is free if you have IS for it. Bugard Leather Strap +1 is better though and it's only 15k.

I like cookies myself, ginger cookies can be bought from npc at 3-5 gil each I belive.

If you dont have a weskit you should, its 10k and far surpasses relic body.

Yigit hands from lebros caverns is free save for the investment of your time, and does not parse far behind Z mitts. Relic hands is for dark spells such as drain and aspir.

Thatlum can be obtained by fighting a force popped NM, a blm should be able to solo(?).

Yigit crackows are good stuff, work on nashira feet for HNM assuming you do limbus.

As for legs.. I know your going to disagree here and thats ok, but nuking in relic legs is bad, like altana kills a kitty every time a blm nukes in them bad.

(Though this is not counting if you have the proper obi + same elemental day as obi + nuking with proper spell, i.e Thunder obi + Relic legs + Lightingsday = omqwtfbbq, but only under those conditions)
